It works fine when used from a dos box (in the same folder of xyplorer.exe)

xyplorer.exe /script="::msg 'hi';"

It doesn't work after creating a shortcut to xyplorer.exe and using the "target" field in the shortcut properties

Works fine here out of the box.

Maybe conflict with CEA?

No, it's a conflict with how CFAs are handled on my system (a launcher script at the end of the list).

Not a bug - /script arg doesn't work with shortcut
