Icon of user button with only a caption

When you add a custom toolbar button you get the first item from the .png
If you (for whatever reason only), give that button a caption but don't fill in the icon field (and additionally not one of the script fields), you get the second one
Can you change that behavior and use the first icon for it as long as there isn't any other icon used?
If you want to show the user "Hey, you haven't configured that button yet, at least not fully", maybe just create a new one (a recolored original one with red instead of blue) because it's just damn ugly
