Files not highlighted as selected when shift-selecting with the arrow keys

I've found another bug that's actually somewhat dangerous since it can really fool you into thinking that files aren't selected when they actually are. It appears when shift-selecting files using the arrow keys in combination with any file view that displays the files in a grid.
Start with the "List" view for example, and mark the first file in the upper left corner. If you then hold Shift while stepping right with the right arrow key, only the files in that row will be highlighted. Here I'm expecting all files in the previous columns to be selected as well, and you can see that this is actually the case by looking at the status bar or doing a file operation.
I also checked this on my old Windows XP laptop and it was present there as well.
I've attached two images showing what I mean. This first one is the result I get doing the above and as you can see in the status bar, there's actually 35 folders being selected here.
This is what I'm expecting to see, but I had to use the down arrow key and select all the folders in succession to get this result.
