Add Tabs Using Drag & Drop. Now you can turn a folder into a new tab by simply dragging and dropping it onto the empty part of the tab bar or the gaps between two tabs.

can we drag items (files and folders) using this way form other application to open it in XY?
I mean extend the fuctionaltiy to include draging files as well

I use a custom button for this purpose but it would be cool if it become a native XY feature

So, if you drag a file to XY you want XY to open that file rather than add the file to the folder you dragged it to.
Very unexpected behavior even if set by a tweak.
I think your custom button is the safer solution.

notice you will drag the file to new-tab button Just like you do with dropping folder
drag file to new-tab button and go to it in a new tab.
