Refresh folders in tree on hover

This shouldn't be much of an effort to implement at all, but would make my life sooo much easier (I need this a lot).
I often extract files from rar/zip archives to a (new) directory and then have to drop files in there. Unfortunately, even though auto-refresh is on, the newly created folder doesn't appear so I can't drop things into it. If hovering the mouse over a folder in the tree while dragging something could refresh (think Shift-F4) it the same way it expands it if it isn't expanded, this would be great
thx

Yeah, that kind of thing happens to me too, except for me refresh-on-D&D-hover wouldn't help much...
I do wonder, however, if this other idea to "Keep Tree in Synch" would work for you as well :

Forgive me if this is just a touch off topic, but is there a way to refresh both the tree as well as the file panes with a single KB shortcut?
I'm used to refreshing both with F5 in most apps, but in XY, it appears that I need to hit both F4 as well as F5 - so I was wondering if I was missing something.

UDC>Go to>New
#482;#485
you can use your own KB shortcut.

No need for a script! (which should be under Script or prefixed with :: in Go To I believe by the way)
There is a command for this, it's hidden under CKS (and is also used by the TB button "Refresh") : Miscellaneous / General Functions / Refresh Tree and List
Default KS is Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F5 but feel free to assign F5 to it

I haven't worked with UDCs before, but when I tried to create one as you specified and ran it, I got an error - effectively that it was an invalid location.

, i totally missed that. And I forgot to add :: to my script because i initially tested it from ::try. So right, the real script should have been ::#482;#485, but its not necessary anyway since we have Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F5.

Gotcha! Thank you both.
In all honesty, I'm surprised that this isn't on the View menu. But as long as it's in there somewhere...

XY gives you the ability to isolate which side (tree/list) that you
really want to refresh so you don't waste time redoing things that haven't changed/moved...I have the "Refresh" icon on my TB so it not being on the View menu wasn't even noticed.

Yes... now that you mention it... but at least it gives people the joy of discovery once they find it.
I could squeeze it in, but is it good? I think the bigger (and related) problem might be that people expect the
tree to refresh as well when they press
F5. But if I'd change the default shortcuts here I would break a very old XY tradition... I would not like to do that.

Adding it to View menu : yes, it probably should be there.
Changing F5 to this : no, F5 should stay Refresh List, after all there's CKS for those who like it differently
The one thing that I would say, is that maybe it would make more sense for the Refresh TB button to do the same as F5, and that extra option to refresh both would have to be accessed through the ctxt menu, since F5/Refresh List is the default way to refresh in XY...

Ha!

That one really had me laughing.

I'm with Jacky, if you'd rather not change the KB shortcut for tradition's sake, that's fine - but it's probably a good idea to have it on the View menu. The joy of discovery not withstanding.

NO! The way it is now, I can use the Refresh TB icon via touchpad only and avoid use of keyboard totally, so until we can define our own icons and functions for them, or customize default left-click option for existing icons, I'd want this to remain as is.
Adding it to View menu: Sure! Makes perfect sense...new user would probably look for it there.

Yea, I suspected some people would have gotten used to it, I'm just saying for for consistency sake it might be changed, but I'm not opposed to see that change only introduced after Custom TB buttons have been added, because even though I wanted my Refresh button to do a F5-refresh (which is why I don't use this button), I found my way around it anyway...
