"How do you want to open this file"

ImageGlass set as default viewer for files of type JPEG, JPG and PNG.
Double-clicking such files in File Explorer opens them immediately without any dialogue window.
Double-clicking such files in XYplorer always opens the "How do you want to open this file" dialogue window as shown in the attached screenshot. (Selecting the "Always use this app to open -- files" open does not change this faulty behavior.)
How to resolve this problem?

Creating a CFA (Custom File Association) in XY should solve the problem.
See mine below for IrfanView and just adapt the path to match ImageGlass:
Code: Select all
{:Image}>C:\Program Files (x86)\IrfanView\i_view32.exe
Hope this helps.

Is this a bug in XYplorer or in MS Windows 10?

Search the forum, I remember there have been others with similar issues but don't exactly remember the explanation.
Did my proposed solution above solve the problem though?

You might be running XYPlorer under a different account ( most common: running as administrator).
The settings you refer to are per-user
(FWIW: they are stored in the registry under HKCU\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\fileext\.jpg\userchoice)

Hello all, this has to be the greatest of support fora, I just logged on with the same questions regarding jpg files, and voilá - here it is, RalphM's answer to my prayer
Still, I wonder if the underlying problem is Windows 10, not XYplorer, as it came out of the blue, and most likely after windows update. Others seemed to have similar troubles with other files and programs, and none of the suggested solutions there seemed to be any good.

AND for XYplorer that makes it possible.
Thanks Donald, thanks, RalphM
