XYplorer Beta Club

Hi. I've used XYplorer for some time now. Recently when loading large folders xyplorer takes forever to load thumbnails on videos and pictures. Larger folders are worse than smaller folders. I've tried to change between fast and high speed but it doesnt make any difference. When I open the same folders in windows explores the thumbnails are created superfast. I also have an issue with XYplorer freezing. Often when it tries to move files or load thumbs. It's the error message with the retry/switch to options where neither of them works. It's frustrating and I've started using windows explorer again. It's irritating because I really like the xyplorer interface, but I cant use it when it acts up like this all the time.

Thank you for answering. Yes on both. See attatched image. I havent changed any standard settings other than dark mode.

No. Now it's super fast and didnt freeze.

In other words: XY is still generating thumbnails without that setting.

Menu - Window - [x] Show Status Bar

Do you see message(s) in the status bar that XY creates thumbnail(s)?

Yes. When I disable the "show cached thumbnails only" and open a folder with pictures and videos it shows " 47 thumbs created or updated (Fast)". This does not show when the "show cached thumbnails only" is checked.

Ok, close that specific folder (it's tab) and open it again, same message?

No, when I open the folder again all thumbs are still there without any message of creating and updating.

Tick:
Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | [x] Create all thumbnails at once

Open a folder with which you had problems. Let XY do it's work and don't interrupt it.
Wait until you get no more messages in the status bar.

Afterwards, close that tab, open it again and scroll through these files...

Yes. Works good. The problem is that when I restart the computer those thumbnails are gone.

I just now disabled the SilentCleanup in regedit. It disables windows clearing windows explorer thumbs. I'm not sure it it works on xyplorer thumbs as well.

Why should "%APPDATA%\XYplorer\Thumbnails" be empty after a restart?

I tried and it wasnt. I thought they would because usually the I have to create new thumbs for the same folders after a while.

Yes it does. Everytime I open a folder with many pictures of videos it freezes for up to a minute. It's practically useless at this point. Windows explorer works fine and loads thumbs at lightning speed without freezing.
