XY Script: Color Syntax for EditPadPro

Ok, so it's been talked about in the past, but since I've been making myself some scripts and because I'm spoiled now, I wanted my beloved EditPad to show me some nice colors !
So, while no expert at the creation of a Syntax Coloring Schemes, I've looked at how it's done and came up with a little something, that AFAICS seems to work nicely, and I sure like it a lot to see some colors in my scripts !
So if there's any EditPad users out there willing to write XY Scripts in color,
there you go !
(And if you're not using it, you should. Best text editor there is, IMHO.)

I don't have EditPad but UltraEdit. When I find the time I'll post a color syntax file for UltraEdit...

Do you mind when I upload your file to my support section?

BTW, I saw something totally (my-)mind-blowing in your file!
Code: Select all
copyto "D:\Backup\<dyyyy-mm-dd>\XYplorer v<curver>",
"<xypath>\XYplorer.exe|<xydata>\*.ini|<xydata>\*.dat|<xydata>\FindTemplates";
You can use wildcards in the source of shell file operations!?!? I tried it and it works! Either I'm having a blackout right now or I learned something very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen this done or documented.

Well, I was sure it was mentioned on the wiki, but turns out due to a little syntax error it was indeed missing

-- fixed, now it's back.

Anyway, it's very cool. Where did you get that from? Why didn't I know it?

On a second thought: I'll
never find that time!

Never mind...

Thanks a lot!
I'am currently not a heavy-script-user but I like EditPad also very much and a coloring for XYscript can't be wrong

I read it on the wiki!
(and if you never mentioned it, then I'm sure I just tried it cause I thought it'd be cool if it worked, and it did!)

Okay, I found it documented on MSDN, including an important warning:
Standard Microsoft MS-DOS wildcard characters, such as "*", are permitted only in the file-name position. Using a wildcard character elsewhere in the string will lead to unpredictable results.

Good. Not that I was ever going to use wildchars on the path anyways...

I've got a syntax definitions file created for TextPad, as well as a clipbook.
They're in need of an update, but I'll try to do that today and share them too.
I should probably also update the RegExp scripts I shared a while back - has all of the syntax changing dust settled or are we going to wake up one day and discover more changes?

The major dust has settled.

I've uploaded them both.
The TextPad syntax highlighter definitions is here:
http://xyplorer.googlecode.com/svn/trun ... plorer.syn
The Textpad clipbook is here:
http://xyplorer.googlecode.com/svn/trun ... plorer.tcl
(Feel free to host them here if you want, Don.)
The highlighting is a bit overkill as I cover commands #1 - #1500, but I figured it should keep me from having to update it too often and I can live with it highlighting commands that may not exist.

Then I'll try to update and upload my RegEx scripts today as well.
EDIT: Moved files.
