Delete on a slow connection server

Since some time I have the following problem:
One of the servers is connected via slow connection - some 40 Mbit/s. I regularly have to delete some 140 files residing there (no images; no immediately readable format or known extension; about 2GB total size). In trying that, XY kind of hangs. Well, it is not a hang - after a perceived eternity of waiting (some 30 sec) it comes to a deletion itself. The following is to be seen in the meanwhile (Win7): So, most of the time I delete them from Explorer, which is kind of instant.
Recent changes regarding deletion of images did not change this (or perhaps a bit, but I am actually not sure).
Also, it could well be that XY would have a problem in that setting since ever. What is new here is the setting itself, with which I have to cope since recently.
Maybe something could be done about this. I can live with it of course - it is just a nice-to-have, since Explorer seems to not have a problem with it.
