Hello!

Is it possible to have 1 folder in thumbnails mode and another folder in list mode without having to change back and forth?

Sure, just save your folder views. Look at the View menu and Save Folder View. Once you have saved some folder views you can edit them in the "Edit Folder View" menu to change specific aspects of the saved folder view and Manage Folder Views. Take a look in the Help file under Main menu > Views for additional help.
