When Typing and Running Out of Visible Room on the Right

When typing and I run out of room on the right, I think it would be much more useful if the text scrolled to the left to see what I'm currently typing rather than just a character count (handy as that is - keep it) and what's already been typed.

This is a a not uncommon occurrence, especially if using dual panes and the navigation pane at once. A person (quite obviously) needs to see what they're typing for accuracy.

Anyway, I think it would be useful. Thanks for considering it.

If XY scrolls to the left instead of staying on the right, how would I still see what I'm currently typing?

Why don't you just use a multiline input() command in a script?
You can type hundreds of chars and always see everything...

Because I don't want to have to use a script whenever I'm renaming a file, even if I've got the interface rather busy. I think it would be a useful improvement in basic XY. Heck, he's got a little box that counts characters - this shouldn't be too major. But what do I know: If it's easy, please; if it's not, forget it.

What I'm suggesting is just the single line scrolling left as you're typing - so you can see the current letters being entered, shown just to the left of the count box.
