Exclude file extension from subsequent selection (serial rename)

Hi Don,
I use the setting "Exclude file extension from initial selection", this is very handy. However, when performing serial renames, when the next item is selected and F2 is pressed, the default action is to select the entire filename (including extension). Pressing F2 again changes the selection to insertion, then pressing F2 a third time then selects just the base filename (excluding extension). So, in a long list of files to serial rename, F2 must be pressed many times to rename the base files without changing the extension.
It would be great if you could add a setting (or at the very least a tweak) to change the first press of F2 on subsequent selections to exclude filename. This option could be placed directly below "Exclude file extension from initial selection" and possibly be named "Exclude file extension from subsequent selections"
Thanks!
Jeff
