A button for maximizing the info panel

It would be nice if there would be a maximize/minimize button for the info panel. I think in the status bar is enough space for such a button (where the go arrows were before).
I know that this is not a new wish, but I still think that clicking on a button is easier than clicking double on a thin line...

Sure. But often I want to use the mouse rather than hotkeys. And as I said:

Do you know Alt+Left/Right? (I'm shure you do  ). And there are additionally two buttons for these actions. Do you see what I mean? I just want a button instead of double clicking the thin line.

Additionally it would be nice if the maximized size of the info panel could be changed (e.g. pixels from the top).

As an undocumented feature: right-click the status bar (from next BETA).

Another day...

Works great! Better than a button. It also remembers the last max size.
But it seems that double clicking the thin line resets the max size. Is that a bug or a feature?

A feature, but not a good one :) I will remove it... dbl-clicking lines is just not cool.

Remembering last size is really very nice. Thanks for kicking me that way!

But now there is no way to maximise the info panel with the mouse. I like the right click but that will not necessarily give me a maximum panel. Keyboard is of no help when using a tablet, which is the way I work with graphics. One reason I like TrackerV3 so much is because of the large preview area that can be switched on and off easily. Can we have a mouse operated maximise / minimise facility back please (button or double-click)?

Dave.

(Resuming this thread instead of new one):
Another new user thing: It was not obvious that I could resize Info Panel by dragging the line BETWEEN the summary and tabs...I was expecting that to be via the very top edge of the Info Panel, as that is the "divider" between top and bottom...so reason being??

And both Alt and Shift + F12 have "Minimize IP" as descs, so exactly how do these differ? Or should one have a different title? Just wondering...

That is the top edge of the Info Panel, the summary is at the bottom of the main display all the time. There was a reason (which I can't remember) why the divider line is so thin. Donald will no doubt remember what it was.

Shift+F12 is Minimize / Maximize Info Panel. Alt+F12 is Minimize / Last dragged size Info Panel. The difference is the non-minimum condition is either the very maximum size of the Info Panel or the size you last dragged the Info Panel to.

From way back in the History.txt file:
  • * Toolbar: "Maximize Info Panel" now does what it says: toggle between maximum and minimum size.
    * Now the dragged Info Panel size is stored independently of the size achieved by other methods. This means "Last Size/Minimize Panel" and "Maximize/Minimize Panel" work independently of each other.

Ok, then maybe that fact needs to be a bit more described in Help?
I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to what shows always.

That isn't in the Help file...maybe something like that would be good... as the Alt+F12 is not documented, as far as I can see. And the Shift+F12 has a desc that kinda mixes the two.
There are two places where it's mentioned: Menu and Shortcuts so both need to be in-sync.

Well, a lot isn't... ... I'm fully aware of the deplorable state of the help file, no need to mention it again and again  If I have the choice between making a better program and making a better help file I always go for the program, and I always have to make this choice because of lack of time.
Ah, and did I mention that I hate writing help files? I have to use Word for it, it just makes me sick.

 Having been there myself (programming for users), I can relate to dislike of doing documentation! However, a small short blurb is all that is needed, like a few words or so, and just having the option listed in correct place with current verbiage helps a great deal.
Because it's sometimes better to not have it listed in doc rather than listed incorrectly...which can cause confusion....
