Content Search RTF Files with 64-bit IFilters

I'm really enjoying the new support for 64-bit IFilters. It works great for me with one exception: RTF files. RTF files are only searchable when support for 64-bit IFilters is disabled.
  • When using just 32-bit IFilters, XYplorer will search the contents RTF files. For example, it will find and return an RTF document with text containing "xyz".
  • When I enable support for 64-bit IFilters (check "Use 64-bit IFilters" in configuration dialog), XYplorer no longer searches the contents of RTF files. It no longer finds and returns the same RTF document with text containing "xyz".
I need to use 64-bit IFilters to search PDF documents, but I would also like to search RTF documents without changing settings. Does anyone know how to make the RTF files searchable while using 64-bit IFilters?

OS: Windows 10, 64-bit, version 1903
XYplorer version 20.40

NOTE: NirSoft SearchFilterView shows that rtffilt.dll is associated with RTF files, but there are some references to MS Word (Extension = .rtf | Type Name = Word.RTF.8 | Description = Rich Text Format | Content Type = application/msword).

P.S. - It is worth noting that both TXT files and MS Office files are searchable using either 32-bit or 64-bit IFilters. So, when the feature is enabled, I can't tell whether XYplorer uses only 64-bit IFilters OR uses both 32-bit and 64-bit IFilters. Does anybody know?

Thanks for the help.

I just want to report that this feature appears to be working correctly in the latest version 20.50.

With the feature "Use 64-bit IFilters" enabled, XYplorer correctly searches and locates RTF files in addition to TXT documents, MS Office documents, PDF documents, and XPS documents.

XYplorer also searches TIFF images if Windows TIFF IFilter is installed. (NOTE: Search process is slow for TIFF images. I think this is because the Windows TIFF IFilter first performs OCR on the images to generate searchable text.)

Thanks a million for this feature. I use it daily now.

Cool, thanks for the report! The improvement comes from this recent change (v20.40.0023 - 2019-10-02 17:52):

Code: Select all

    * Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Use 64-bit
      IFilters:
      - Now if the 64-bit IFilter returns nothing then the 32-bit IFilter is
        tried as a fallback strategy.
      - Now if the 32-bit IFilter returns nothing then the 64-bit IFilter (if on
64-bit Windows) is tried as a fallback strategy.
