I have jpg files associated with Irfanview in Windows 10, so when I double click on a jpg in windows explorer it opens in that program. When I double click on a jpg in XYplorer, I get the windows "Open with..." dialog, asking if I want to continue using Irfanview to open the file. It doesn't matter if I check the "Always use this app.." box or not, it continues to ask me every time.
Other image files like png, tif, bmp, etc. will open correctly in Irfanview from XYP, but I can't seem to get jpg's to work. I've checked the default apps settings in Windows and it is set properly. Is there something I am missing?
Action on double click
Re: Action on double click
01. Create a CFA (Custom File Association) for it
E.g.:
or if this doesn't solve it, use the hardcore method (and blame MS for it!)
02. Group policy
run gpedit.msc
Local Computer Policy
Computer configuration
Administrative templates
Windows Compononents
File Explorer
"Do not show the 'new application installed' notification"
(o) Enabled
E.g.:
"Windows Photo Viewer" {:Image}>::run """%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe"" ""%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll"", ImageView_Fullscreen <curitem>";or if this doesn't solve it, use the hardcore method (and blame MS for it!)

Re: Action on double click
Thank you so much for your suggestion. I've never used the portable file associations feature before, it solved the problem for me.
Of course, I'm still left wondering what caused the problem in the first place...

Re: Action on double click
Looks like Irfanview does not register itself correctly in the 32-bit branch of the registry.
