Locking behaviour of drag'n'drop

I post this here because I don't know if it's some intended behaviour of Windows rather than a bug...

Let's assume I have a simple Catalog item, like echo <drop>;. When I drop an item from XY List on it a window pops up telling me the full path of said item. It's all ok, all cool. Now let's assume I don't close the window that just popped up. I'm not able to perform a drag'n'drop operation anymore, anywhere. I want to drag a tab in Firefox? I can't. Just a mere example - any drag'n'drop operation is now impossible.

Is this a limit of Windows itself?

This is not related to drag-&-drops. echo, msg, inputselect() etc create modal dialogs, they will block all interaction with the main window, by design.

Sammay, d'n'd is blocked across all the OS, not just XY.
