When you install a new program, the program sets its own file associations and maybe install items to "new items menu", and to see new changes you must do the following successively:
View | Caches | Refresh Icons
View | Caches | Update New Items Menu
or simply restart XYplorer
So why not make things easier and refresh button be enough to do these things?

This is just my opinion, but that would slow things down for general use for the few times that it might be needed, and the new items menu isn't affected by installing/uninstalling apps it is XY specific.

You could also easily change your refresh button to a CTB that does all those tasks if you really thought it necessary for yourself, but for a default I don't think users would expect or want the added overhead.
