XYplorer Can't detect default app!

i'm trying XYplorer so far it's been great but there is one problem. Every time i try to open a pdf or doc file, the pop-up window for choosing the default app appears to select the opening app for this kind of files. where windows explorer opens the same file without any issue. any suggestions?

There have been a number of fixes previously posted for this Windows 10 behavior. Do a search on this forum for "file association" or "default app".
