Will you add an option,to not show file size in bytes in the status bar, because people are accustomed to read in KB's and MB's.

I'm never against an option, but I don't want this feature to disappear. In some cases, it's really useful to have the size in bytes shown here.

Another reason is,If lot of files are selected in the list the number of bytes shown becomes too large and it looks ugly to see.

Don,what's your reply?

This is Absolutely needed info! No way I'd live without it (I mean showing the byte size in various places).
And what'a about being "ugly".., If it's useful info, it's not 'ugly'.. An option to remove it would be Ok, but I believe Don wouldn't remove it altogether and totally.

I do not find this to be obtrusive and it is - well, for me - a welcome additional piece of information which oft comes handy.
While I attended elementary school - way back in the last century - my late math teacher told me once to take care to write numbers nicely, because they feel pain when written in an ugly way. Yep, she was the best math teacher I ever had.
So, no, I would not say that big natural numbers are ugly.

If the file size is very small, then it's proper to show in bytes, why does one want's it to display in bytes if it's already shown in KB or MB that to side by side and 2 times.

Because it's the exact size?

Everywhere wherever I can, all my filesizes are configured for raw bytes (with comma thousands separator).
Another positive side effect of this is I can just glance at filesize column and tell apart bigger from smaller files only by the length of the number

. If I used KB/MB/GB there is no easy telling this. I know of the new glyphs (circles, colors etc.) indicating relative filesizes but still these are not so good as I thought in the beginning (I use them too).

Because I choose not to display the size in bytes in a column and I regularly need this info to compare some files size to the exact byte.
But again, I understand some would want this to be hidden and I wouldn't care if a tweak could do this.

Don,don't you think that this is an usability enhancement

As far as my experience goes, Don is mostly "statistically controlled" when it comes to wishes. I guess that this could be made tweakable, but it seems that you are the only one interested, unfortunately.

Well, thanks!

Looks like I didn't pass the Turing test. So, it's official: I'm a deterministic finite state machine.

That was not meant negative! But now that you say it, maybe you are another instance of
Robot Five, fighting for the freedom of the M$nkind.
