Horizontal Movement Speed: Modifier or Allow us to Set Speed

I'm rather attached to the little red joystick that Lenovo provides on their laptops. Unfortunately, at least at my screen resolution, the horizontal scroll speed is so slow as to almost make it unusable. Two possible solutions I see would be to either make it so pressing, say, shift would significantly increase the horizontal scroll speed when held down, or be able to specify my own numerical speed value as a setting or tweak.

And this is different from the behavior in any other application? oO

Yep.

And even if it weren't (I'm sure there are others out there), this is the primary application within which I'd find it useful. Flipping it with a trackpad or mouse works fine. I realize this is a bit of an unusual pointer, but still - doesn't hurt to ask, especially as I hope it isn't a difficult-to-implement tweak. And it is my primary pointing device, as I don't have to remove my fingers from the keyboard to use it.

Just tested it on a Windows app that uses the Qt framework and it scrolls horizontally at a reasonable speed.

So in other words: Horizontal mouse movement speed is fine across the whole system / all apps, except in XY it is slowed down (a lot)?
Do you have a device driver for that pointer stick installed? Any additional software for it (like e.g. Synaptic software or XMouseButton)?

It's installed with just Lenovo's utilities. The speed is several orders of magnitude slower pulling left right. Wish it weren't.
If you get down to the bottom of a list and keep pulling, it scrolls rapidly and sweetly across (yeah, that's different). Really, really wish it did that when I hit the middle button and pull to go right-left. Still hope a tweak is possible, or something - I don't know why XY handles this pointer differently than any other app I've tried, though there has to be some out there. Oh well, it's certainly in the minority as a primary pointing device, and hard for Don to test.
