XYplorer Beta Club

I frequently use PDF files. Either they are scanned into my computer in which case the scanning software (scandall 21) displays a "save as" dialog box, but my only options are to the folders of Windows file explorer, or I am saving some document from online. Either way, it seems I have to save it to Windows file explorer and rearrange where it's filed (into subfolders) in xyplorer. I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to save documents directly into xyplorer.

Em, what? Are you talking about how to replace the Save As dialog with XY? That's not possible.

It sounds like you might be envisioning using xyplorer as the Save As... dialog. (Thus replacing the standard Windows Save As... dialog.) This is not possible.

As far as saving into subfolders, my (limited) understanding is that neither Windows Explorer, nor xyplorer really "owns" the folders. They are merely locations on your hard drive (such as C:/My Folder/my subfolder). Windows Explorer is merely a sort of portal that lets you view/access the contents of those locations. Xyplorer is merely a more-advanced explorer replacement.

Both are freebies that can monitor folders and automatically do things such as, "If a PDF file shows up in location C:/Downloads, then move it to C:/SomeFolder."

I've never actually tried Belvedere. I have used DropIt, though I don't currently have it installed.
