How do you use it?

Do you think that it would be a good idea to compile a guide where different users could share the neatest, cleverest, time savingest ways they have found to use XYplorer?
I'm sure that each of you has a trick up his sleeves that other users have never even thought of. Obviously, everyone's needs are different, but I'm sure that I/we could learn a lot about how to take full advantage of the catalog, the search functions, the new UDCs, etc... by reading what other users have come up with.

If the tricks are short enough, they could be featured in Tips of the Day format. Why not?

Put a .exe in the catalog (I have winamp and open office, par exemple) drag and drop files onto the .exe to open files using that app and not the app that is configured as default
Just grab a handful of songs and sling them at the icon, the player opens and the music starts
Or .doc files you want to open with Open Office instead of Word

I have my xyplorer_6.40_beta_noinstall.zip in the Catalog. Everytime I upload a new version, I drag XYplorer.exe onto this zip and the exe inside the zip is updated. Then I click on the zip and XYplorer takes my there and selects it. I grab it and drag it to the target loction in my FTP prog (which is always open). Creating and uploading a new noinstall package takes me 10 seconds.

Unless you're FTP prog doesn't support Copy/Paste (if so, shame on him!) you don't even need to go there : right-click on your Catalog item, Copy, then simply paste it on your FTP location

Wow. I think it's about time for aliases! In one of the next releases I will add a simple alias mapping, so that you can just enter "Named=@junk@" (or so -- syntax not yet decided)...
