[How to] Drag and drop vs Mouse Down Blow Up
[How to] Drag and drop vs Mouse Down Blow Up
Hello, since last version 19.00.001, it’s not possible to drag and drop images if Mouse Down is checked. As I mainly manage images, it’s a great regression for me. Will the two features be compatible in the future ?

Re: Drag and drop vs Mouse Down Blow Up
I gave the reason for the change in the change log:
Did you not encounter this problem?
Code: Select all
! Thumbnails View with MDBU: You could drag an unselected file by grabbing
the thumbnail quick enough before the MDBU popped up. However, it was the
selected files that were actually moved then, not the dragged file.
Fixed: Now you cannot grab a file by the thumbnail anymore if MDBU is
enabled.FAQ | XY News RSS | XY X
Re: Drag and drop vs Mouse Down Blow Up
So we have to drag the file by the name. OK. Not very intuitive but it makes sense with the new feature.

No, I'd like to improve it. I think it's natural to drag images by the thumb, but it's also natural (or normal) that the *currently selected* files are dragged. So there is a conflict that needs to be resolved.
For example, like this: I could wait some 100 ms before popping the blow up to see if there is any dragging intended. In that case I would quit the MDBU and go for the dragging. And if necessary the dragged file would be made the selected and focused file internally (losing any other current selections). That could be a way. Maybe there are others.

Or show a zone on hover «click here to drag» but I don’t think it’s possible.

I just did it like that (using a150 msecs wait that already existed anyway in front of the MDBU for other reasons) and it works nicely.admin wrote:For example, like this: I could wait some 100 ms before popping the blow up to see if there is any dragging intended. BTW, we had this issue already here 3 years ago (viewtopic.php?p=119807#p119807), but somehow I did not really do it right that time...

I’m the specialist of opening already discussed threads. I completely forgot the problem I met and the solution.

But this time you did the right thing because in v19.00.0001 it was in a bad state.

19.00.0002 fixes the "problem". Time to open another thread.

Re: [How to] Drag and drop vs Mouse Down Blow Up
I am wondering why it doesn't work the same way for right mouse button down. I mostly use the right button for both drag and drop and preview an image in full screen.

Preview image with hover does not work anymore in this version.lian00 wrote:19.00.0002 fixes the "problem". Time to open another thread.

Thank you, it is really great, you spared me the annoyance of grabbing pictures twice.admin wrote:Next beta...LittleBiG wrote:I am wondering why it doesn't work the same way for right mouse button down. I mostly use the right button for both drag and drop and preview an image in full screen.
