I can "move" a file within the same disk drive by dragging it - ok
I can do this with a group of files - ok
BUT - if I cut and paste to the same or a different disk drive the files get COPIED not MOVED :-(
If I hold the shift key down whilst dragging the files to another disk drive they are correctly MOVED
I do not have any external copy handlers defined

How to I get xyplorer to cut and paste correctly please ?

Does cut & paste work with Windows Explorer?

If yes, on which OS and bitness are you?

If on 64-bit, is: Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Show the 64-bit context menu
enabled or not?

XY version?

Cut and paste via context menu or keyboard shortcuts?

Does cut & paste work with Windows Explorer - yes

If yes, on which OS and bitness are you - Windows 10 Pro on a 64 bit workstation

Show the 64-bit context menu - enabled

XY version - 18.80

Cut and paste via context menu or keyboard shortcuts - via context menu

What happens when you disable
Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Show the 64-bit context menu

and additionally, enable
Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Context Menus | Hide shell extensions from shell context menu

and switch
Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Context Menus | Custom drag and drop context menu

on and off and test all these combinations afterwards...

Show the 64-bit context menu - disabled - cut & paste now works correctly, drag and drop to another disk now moves instead of copys, I can happily live with that.

Hide shell extensions from shell context menu - enabled - makes no difference

Custom drag and drop context menu - enabled - makes no difference

Problem resolved - thanks very much

Seems that it's caused by the switch to a new version of ContextMenu64.exe.

Can't find the thread where I asked if it has been open sourced (yet) atm...

after starting it and do your tests (cut / paste) again and tell me if it works with that version without problems...

The version you sent me behaves the same:
64 bit menu disabled - cut/paste works ok
64 bit menu enabled - cut/paste copies instead of moving

Uncovered a second problem
64 bit menu enabled - menu contains - "windows defender" and "bulk rename here" icons as it should do
64 bit menu disabled - menu does not contain the above entries :-(

That's normal. Those items registered only 64-bit context menu entries -> They don't show up on the 32-bit menu

Please check if the original issue is fixed in v19.00.0008.
