Could Info Panel active tab be defined for each folder tab?

First, I just spent the last 15+- min looking for a similar topic that I very vaguely recall (one of the downsides of being SO active here!), but couldn't find it so apologies if this duplicates another...

Anyway, this is a variant of a prior thread that I created in June:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=1599
where I asked to be able to set IP tab to non-preview on certain file types.

This type of situation is still probably one of my most commonly occuring irritants in using XY (Hate to say it, but it's true), and still looking for a good way to handle it that would be good for all users...

The most recent scenario that caused me problems is:
1) Have one/more speadsheets open in Excel
2) Want to block any other XLS files from opening without my explicit action, and want to avoid either the 'Object' worksheet or Excel lockout
3) Am using two tabs in XY...one to preview some JPG's containing data needed for the Excel task, and one to locate the next XLS file to be worked on
4) When I switch from the 'JPG' tab (which needs to use the IP Preview tab) to the 'XLS' tab (which needs to be any IP tab other than preview), I have to remember to adjust the IP view prior to tab switch or my Excel task will be adversely affected, and then switch IP tab back when going back to other tab...
5) Yes, there are KS that may assist in this process, but I'm mainly a touchpad user plus given that there are currently other properties that 'belong' to each tab, it seems this could be another one easily with just a few chars in INI, such as IP=1 to say that this tab is using the Properties tab.

So...if as a minimum, the active tab on IP could be linked to the related tab such that I could switch between the two folder tabs, it would automatically move from, for example, Properties to Preview or Raw View to Version or similar, that would make my usage of XY SO much better and easier!

I have certain folders that I almost always want to use Preview for, others that I want to use Raw View on, and so forth...now this could maybe at some future time become another Catalog property, but for now, being able to quasi-link the active tab on Info Panel to that folder tab would be a GREAT help!

Right now, when I'm on the 'JPG' tab and using Preview/MDBU to view some scanned receipts that provide data to be keyed into the Excel worksheet, and I then need to find another XLS file to get some other data, I'm having to resort to using Win Expl ( :P ) for that folder to prevent the accidental preview and lockup of the Excel session that results if I don't switch the IP tab....it's becoming somewhat of a PITA, and hope there may be a solution that could be implemented before some of the other planned neat features, ok?

Thanks! SO sorry for the length of this, but it's hard to explain in just a few words! And it took me quite a while to write also.

P.S. Having the other IP settings (Max/Min;On/Off;etc) be linked to tab would be even so much greater! Ok, so IP is presently generic across tabs but why does it have to be?

Having a Panel par tab is an old wish indeed... one I'd love to see come reality as well.

In the mean time, if I got your problem right, maybe this should be one of those time where activating a new tab is not seen as a user click, and as such the preview is not started even if everything applies, and you'd have to ask for it (Ctrl+Q)

That way when you go back to another tab, no preview would be initiated even thought the Panel is on Preview tab. (Although you'd still have to change/hide the panel before clicking on any (other) XLS file)

Yes, and on the face of it, seems quite simple to implement (for someone who's never seen any of the code)...

As I'd stated, having the active IP tab linked to folder tab would allow me to have, let's say, one tab with Preview, one tab with Properties, and one tab with Find Files...and I could keep the XLS folder fixed on Properties, the JPG folder fixed on Preview, and the third on some other folder...
And should I change one of these to another IP tab, it would just affect that one folder tab...
