I tried to use this for pdf and word files but it simply doesn't work contrary
to what is advertised.

I double checked to see if I made a mistake.
It does work for txt files, but not for pdf, word and excel files !

While XYplorer is probably the best file explorer out there, this is a GLARING BUG WITH A FEATURE ITSELF NOT WORKING.

You need to install what is called an iFilter

(I don't think Apache OpenOffice iFilters are installed on newer versions anymore though)

It is up to you to find and install x32 bit iFilters to accomplish contents search on those type files, there is no bug in XY.

I can confirm I have working search of PDFs via SumatraPDF iFilters, I have no need for DOC file search so can't personally recommend a provider for Office document iFilters.

I am moving this topic to questions and Answers, there is no bug, XY supports the plugins and will work if they are available on the host system.
