preview pics by hovering mouse

Some time ago a feature was introduced to have a picture shown when hovering the mouse over the file in xyplorer. This works perfectly in my main pc. I just installed the program on a secondary pc and can't work out why nothing happens when I do the same hover. Was there some config setting that I previously ticked on my other pc? I looked through the faq but was not even sure what the feature is called. I noted a recent query regarding blurry pics and how to get around that but in my case there is no pop-up of the picture at all.
