questions about file count - other software?

I'm looking for a replacement for Windows Explorer - frustrated I can't get a file COUNT.
I see from *https://www.xyplorer.com/release_16.80.php* I can get both count and size in the same column with xyplorer, but you say building the cache takes time.
*1) Would it run more quickly if you were to provide a separate option to get file COUNT only?* ( (I don't care about the size of folder - that's an easy swag just opening the folder and looking at file sizes.)

_Couple more questions:_
2) Is xyplorer doing the counting - i.e., NOT relying on Microsoft (seems Microsoft is not populating that field with their operating system, based on an attempt to use Commander XE and getting _no_ file count).
3) How long does it take to build the cache - i.e., hours? overnight? days?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Oh, it's pretty fast, and no need for an extra column. Just tick these three checkboxes and you get the info right in the size column:

Configuration | Tree and List | List | Always show folder sizes
Configuration | General | Tree and List | List | Cache folder sizes
Configuration | General | Tree and List | List | Show item count with folder sizes
