Deleting And Excluded Folder Behaviour In Searched Result

I am happy to see that the excluded folders are now loaded in future version of Xyplorer. Since it is a beta I will wait till it is released.

I am using v6.30.0000.

I do a search for 0 day created items in My Computer. I found tons of files plus some empty folders in the C:\. Yes, I don't know who create those empty folder, that is why I do search for newly created folder from time to time.

I clicked one of the empty folder, then press delete key on the keyboard, when asked for confirmation, I clicked yes using my mouse.

As soon as I clicked yes, Xyplorer is backed to My Computer. The folder is deleted, but I have to do a search again since the search result is gone.

Besides, I have excluded the folder Recent at C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Recent. But the folder is still shown in the searched result.

According to the Wiki page, if I start search from an excluded folder, items in that folder will be shown. I am searching My Computer, so is that normal for the folder to be shown?

Since I am new, I look at the configuration. I didn't find anything about these.

Is this also by design? Or it can be set in the config? Thanks :)

If you delete a file from the search results, it works without any new search activity. But, if you delete a folder from the search results, the search is re-started. This has internal reasons.
It will get much better once there's search results caching...

Exluded folders: you have to check the filter to activate it.

Why wait?
You should know that XY is not your ordinary software product! As you may see, there are new beta releases very often, and in order to better assist you as another user here, it's helpful to be using the latest vers....and by staying "official", you miss out on a lot of new cool features, and also are unable to help detect errors that may be more visible to a new user.

I simply keep a couple of prior version install.EXE files so that I can quickly revert to a prior vers should there be that rare case when new vers has a major flaw...which has happened maybe twice in the 20+ months I've been using beta vers...and those bugs were quickly found and fixed within a day or so..

Yeah, more importantly as you then said, unlike other softwares with XY a beta version is pretty much as stable as any other (official) version, and if it's been out for a couple of days it usually means that a few people around here have already upgraded, and they found no reason not go use it, so you're pretty safe grabbing & using it (I'd say)

Thanks for the info about deleting folder.

Yep, I did check it. I excluded the Recent folder, do a search, Recent Items (those shortcuts) are not shown, but the folder Recent itself is shown.

Then I intentionally create a folder at the desktop, put some files in that folder, exclude that newly created folder, check it, then do a search for 0 day created items from My Computer.

The newly created folder is still shown in the search result, which I think is weird since I did exclude that folder, but all the files in that folder are not shown, which is good since that folder is excluded.

That is not a big problem, but since I think it is weird, then I come here and ask you all :)

Thanks j_c_hallgren and jacky for the info about beta. I will use the beta.

I have the following defined as an Excluded Folder and never see it (or any contents of it) on result of a search:
C:\Documents and Settings\*\Recent\
This bypasses all shortcuts for any user, as sometimes I run as "Administrator" but mostly as user "Hallgren"...
Is that how you've got your Exclude set up?

The folder is excluded from being searched, not from being found.
