Loupe Bar

Here is a preview of a possible new feature: Loupe Bar (LB).

Whatever text you hover in the XY interface is shown magnified in the LB.
You can configure font, font size, and colors.

Good stuff for people with weak, tired, or lazy eyes, or when working in bad lighting conditions.

Isn't it what Windows' Magnifier does?

I thought so, too, but it's not like this anymore in Win8.1 it seems. I remember a bar-like loupe from XP, but where is that in Win8.1???

And it would be different: you would really have a strong feedback of which item is actually hovered, so it would be smarter than a mere magnification.

This is a marvellous idea!
Yes, Windows' Magnifier does pretty much that, but try to use it and it gets annoying quickly because it cuts out a piece of screen and it's moving around with the mouse movements... so you start feeling seasickness - or at least, I do. :veryconfused:
If the magnified part stay put in that Bar-area, I think will be very usefull!! :appl:

Yep, from the screen it looks like it could be of great help in some years.

On my high-resolution devices I will try it as a standard setting. Though everything is readable on my Surface Pro having a spot on the current selection (1st entry) might be a good addition in daily usage.

Don, I think it's a waste of effort. I thought you would have better ideas.

They will want everything, not just XY magnified. Hence they will either set their display up with larger fonts etc... or have a magnifier always active, either the built in Windows version, or a commercial program.

Windows magnifier can be docked in Windows 8.1.

Unfortunately, that would be my opinion too. :(

Very important +1

Something related

Control, more wheel of the mouse, to zoom only by sectors, that is to say if the pointer is on the area of the tree of files only to extend the text font of text in this field, and not on the list of files, this allows to have different sizes of text font In each sector.

I also have problems to see the names of the menus in the menu bar, it is possible to increase the size with Control, more wheel of the mouse
