Add a divider line between Info Panel and Files
Add a divider line between Info Panel and Files
Whenever I need to resize the info panel I can never find the exact middle to get the arrow cursor... Would you be able to add some sort of dividing line

Re: Add a divider line between Info Panel and Files
Why don't you try the visible line above the tab headers of the info panel?

actually i felt lack of some dividers there too, even more i'd prefer to have divider line of info pane/line and file list = blending sometimes confuses.

I don't see a way to make it look better than now.

Re: Add a divider line between Info Panel and Files
too bad, 'cause for me situation is worse, the theme i find comfortable for use in system doesn't have grey color like ethanpil's one. i even had to switch background color in Thumbs view(my main) to have at least some clue where is the "border" between info panel and end of List.
a simple 1px grey line like those bordering Info Panel tabs could be grate. even as a tweak, 'cause i remember in past this line was erased by purpose of "migration closer to material design".

Configuration > Styles > Borders > Dark border (2 pixel) or Dark border (1 pixel)
Does the situation get better?
(btw, Don, if I was being pedantic, I'd say 2 pixel should be 2 pixels. Or be ambigous 2 px, 1 px)

You know the arrow is pointing to the wrong position? This is the border between the list and it's status line.
The border to the info pane is one line below the arrow position, i.e. below the status line.
I never understood why Don doesn't want this border between panes to be seen

Because less is more.PeterH wrote:I never understood why Don doesn't want this border between panes to be seen
The splitter is right above the tab headers which can always be seen when the Info Panel is open. No need for additional markings.

It seems the habits of people are different.admin wrote:Because less is more.PeterH wrote:I never understood why Don doesn't want this border between panes to be seen

When I try to move the splitter, I automatically (i.e. not willful) try to omit the area with the tabs. Next I remember the situation, and as the mouse now is right of the tabs I optically extend the line to the right, and when the pointer changes to the correct symbol I drag. (If, after a short time, I want to drag again, I actively remember and sometimes drag the line above the tabs.)
May sound strange - but it's the way it is. Seems we have a robot inside. Yours doesn't want to see the line, mine misses it.

Re: Add a divider line between Info Panel and Files
You might try this tweak:
Code: Select all
TabIPVisualStyle=1

Re: Add a divider line between Info Panel and Files
So, is everybody happy with this?
Code: Select all
v18.00.0003 - 2017-06-12 16:30
+ Tweak TabIPVisualStyle got a new style/value 3:
TabIPVisualStyle=3
It's identical to value 2 apart from a horizontal line at the top that
marks the position of the splitter you use to modify the height of the
Info Panel.

...no time to test yesterday...admin wrote:So, is everybody happy with this?
But now: for me it's very helpful!
Some thoughts:
- for me it's a divider between panes, so might be a double line
- the area where you can grab the line is asymetric, i.e. exactly the (thin!) line and a bit above. So it is a bit strange if the cursor comes from below - you're afraid to miss the line. But then there is some unexpected room to grab it above
But as said: (for me) helpful even as it is now.
Thanks

and yeah, 2px doesn't seem to be like 2px.
