delete key not working in file list

Suddenly I cannot delete the selected file from a folder view by pressing the delete key. Also pressing ctrl + A does not select all the folder items.

However I can use the delete key when editing a selected file name so the key itself is working OK. I assume something has changed in the configuration but I cannot find what.

Any thoughts greatfully appreciated.

Menu - Tools - Customize Keyboard Shortcuts...

Use the "Jump..." button and search for delete / ctrl+a
