propagate layout to all tabs

Is it an impression I'm having or there is not a way to, GUI or script, propagate the current layout to all tabs?

For all these settings that can't be evaluated "live" it would be nice if sc savesettings would have another param for an .ini file
In that case it could be used to save the config to a dummy .ini file, read that you have the "live" value again.

Better than nothing, right?
