This has been done on purpose on 20140922. Strangely I made no notes why I did this. Maybe it's here in the forum? (No time to check now)

Yes, I saw that. But it does not really explain why the settings are disobeyed. It might well be a bug.

I noticed one difference. When the "Use whole screen" is ticked and the preview fills out the whole window, the taskbar cannot be seen, the preview hides it (although here I could notice terrible flickering when I move the preview). But if it is unticked, the taskbar is always present.

Is that a problem?

Not for me :-) However, the function is not perfect at all.
1. Doesn't do what the tooltip says. (In my understanding. I would change the tooltip.)
2. Too much flickering. Disturbing to the eyes. (maybe the culprit is the Windows)
3. Preview doesn't overlap the taskbar if it doesn't fill out the whole screen even with the "Use whole screen" ticked. (I consider it as a bug.)

No bug or flicker here (Win8), but I remember it from WinXP. It's a Windows bug.

Not at the moment. IMO it's a fug (feature/bug).

I probably thought that text needs all the size it can get
- to be readable
- to get a large enough chunk of text to see what the file is about
Another point:
- a blown up text never covers the whole screen whereas this will often happen with pictures
Bottomline: confining text to the app window just does not make much sense. And when rules don't make sense: break them! We are free.

I see your point but please tell me is it normal that a blown up text sometimes get stuck and stay up covering the desktop even the app window is minimized?

No, not normal. Never saw this here. Unless you trigger it with right button, then it's a function. (Configuration | Mouse Down Blow Up | Stay up)
