Support for dragging file from Win XP .zip folder to XY

If you open a .zip file using Win XP's builtin Zip support, it essentially opens it like a folder in Win Explorer as if that zip file were a directory.
If I try to drag a file from that zip "folder" to XY it fails (error below).
It would be nice if xy supported this.

Have you seen this prior thread, (which points to a couple of other prior ones), related to zip files? Just wanted to give you some background info...
Edit/Update:The URL that I
had pasted here (honestly!

) evidently never made it and I then went on to do some other work...SORRY!

so I'll put it in now:

I didn't see any pointers to other articles

Do you mean this article:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=1689
If so, I didn't see any links in it or further info (other than a problem similar to the one I reported. Wow! what a coincidenc that was)

J C:
It seems to me that the OP is asking for something different than having XY incorporate native Zip capability - he's asking that XY accept files dropped from WinXP's Zip handler.

You are using Win Explorer and dare to ask me for a bug fix related to this!
OK, I'll have a look...
Can XY open .zip files?

When I double click on a .zip file in XY, it opens in Win Explorer.
(Win XP Pro)

Because you associated Explorer with ZIP files. I use WinZip for example.

But I guess it is defaulted to WE no? Therefore a pretty good idea to support it?

If it is infact defaulted to WE then yes! I'm not sure, is it really??

Goody, thanks!

When I associate .zip with WE then XY won't let me drag a file from the .zip 'folder' in WE to an XY. I get the "not" sign.

Brand new install of Vista Business (64bit) and double clicking on a zip file in XY (which works just fine so far btw, which is nice

) opens the ZIP file in a new WE window. Dragging a file from that WE window back into the XY list gives an error popup saying "Failed to get dropped contents of 'somefile'."
And yes, Vista does associate ZIP files with WE by default.
<opinion>I honestly believe that XY should support reading and writing ZIP files because they are so common and EVERY file manager under the sun supports them to a basic extract/create level. I do believe this is a now standard feature of file managers and that XY missing this functionality makes it look bad.</opinion>

But don't forget: Not having something that every other file manager has makes XYplorer surely more notable!
