inactive pane highlight?

Don, I don't recall seeing anything in the release notes, did something recently change about the inactive highlight row color?
It's always been "not as I expected", but after taking today's [ogg] update, I am now seeing the inactive pane's highlight color as I'd always intended, that is, it seems to now work ALMOST like I'd always wanted it to. I say almost because the active pane still doesn't reflect the color I choose in options, UNTIL I open the options dialog, then when I do, it's right, and when I close the options dialog, it goes back to "not quite right", but, the inactive pane is now at least honoring what I selected in options.
Just wondering what maybe had changed?

Not aware of doing anything here lately. AFAIK only the grid colors were improved a bit (adaptive/semi-transparent to the background).
But which color is "wrong"? Got a screenshot?

Sure, see here in the first screenshot, the active pane's highlight color is light blue:

but in the second screenshot, it's orange, but only when I bring up the options dialog (note in the options dialog, I have it set as orange) but as soon as I close the options dialog, the active pane returns to blue, but the inactive pane stays orange:

Unless I am completely crazy, this is new behavior, in that, I don't think the orange I've chosen has EVER appeared for me to work anywhere, now at least it's honored in the inactive pane.

Urgh, my eyes!
Anyway, let me make some assumptions because there might be a misunderstanding:
a) by "highlight color" you mean the background color of the selected item(s), correct?
b) you enabled Full Row Select, correct?
c) you UN-ticked "Configuration | Styles | Underline selected rows", correct?
d) you ticked "Configuration | Styles | Selected list items Use", correct? -->> this is probably the color you are seeing when Config is open, right?

a) Yes
b) Yes (although I can't seem to find this option now, but I am sure I set that long ago)
c) Yes
d) Yes, right, that's the orange selection color as well as the color in the Colors page (in the screenshot)

d) well, that orange color (which appears to slightly differ from your Selected Rows color (what you call "Highlight Color") is only seen in the non-focused pane, either the inactive pane, or when the whole window is in the background.
-> set "Selected Rows" color in Configuration | Colors | List to orange and you should be set.

Right, for some reason, neither pane seemed to be honoring the selected rows setting until now.
The bigger issue though, is, why doesn't the active pane color use "selected rows" ? Is there no way to have the active pane's selection anything other than the horrible Windows blue?

Your light-blue on orange is hardly readable so XY decided to refuse it.

Just kidding. Can you send me your INI file, please?

Hi Don.
Sorry, I did not see your request here. Attached is my ini (with some private info removed)

Your note about the light blue text on orange highlight is a good one, I see no way to set the foreground text of selected items as different from normal foreground text? In other words, I'd like to keep my current light blue (cyan) text but when selected (orange) make that foreground something darker. Is that possible too?
Thanks
Jeff

Correct, there is no way to set the text color for selected rows independently.
My original idea of color customization was not as Meskalin-based as yours

... so I thought of the various backgrounds as light and tasteful shades behind the same text color...
