Those checkmark boxes (left of each file) how do I display?

Was I imagining that XY had an option to display a little box next to each file so that the user could toggle a checkmark for the purposes of performing file operations on just those checkmarked files? Thanks.

You know what is so strange about this, I actually had the
"Checkbox Selection" option checked. I even waited for a few minutes to allow the program to "freshen" but
still couldn't get it to display in the directory I was working in. For the hell of it I switched to a directory with only a few files + unchecked the
"Checkbox Selection" menu option + went back to the problem directory + turned it on in
that directory and success.
