Hello,

I'm searching a replacement for my Windows Explorer, and since I don't like the Total Commander style, I'm trying XYplorer, and until now it seems to to what I need.

At the moment I have two things:
- when copying, the actual file are not overwritten, but added with a -01 filename. I would prefer to use the Windows normal copy process, with the relative overwrite warning (the one from Windows 10 is relatively comfortable now)
- when changing drives, I would prefer that the current directory on this drive would be restored.

Hello and welcome!

Overwriting it the default behavior unless you copy a file in its own location (then is duplicated with a numeric suffix).

How do you copy, and from where to where?

thank you for your very fast answer!

I copied it over from a terminal server session.

On the remote system the files were in the path r:\termplan\dbf, whereas my local path was c:\cavowork\termplan\dbf

Unfortunately, copy to and from remote desktop sessions is a very usual task for me.

You mean you used Copy and Paste, right?

And did you tick this?
Configuration | File Operations | Custom Copy Operations | Use Custom Copy

yes, copy and paste, and "Use custom copy" was NOT ticked.

I have now tried it with "Use custom copy" ticked, same result - all files were copied with a -01 addition to the file name.

This r:\termplan\dbf is a normal file path? You can list it in XYplorer?

no, r:\termplan\dbf is on a remote system - I'm connected to it the Microsoft Remote Desktop software. On my machine, there is no drive R:.

And the terminal server makes that drive available to the connected client?

no, it is not available to the client (my development PC).
