PDF can NOT be seen in XY - flaw or feature.

I got an email with a PDF attachment with a 23 character long name in addition the the following path:
I:\W9fromD\G4\T ARCHIVE\AGENT EMAIL ATTACHMENTS1\MAIL2243\MAIL2243
Checking that folder with XY indicated there was no such file there and that the folder contained 20 files.
Using M$ file explorer - it can see 21 files including the file missing in XY. No problem - and no problem for my PDF program to view and print.
I'm using the Pro ver 16.90.0322.
F5 and restarting XY does nothing.
Closed the email program. There is another PDF file in the folder.
This is a first ever for me with any program.
What is going on??? Is this a known flaw or feature?

More of an unknown flaw. Try to reproduce it...

I'm slightly short on time today.
What would be good test that would not destroy the evidence that could be needed if this is a really obscure bug?
Emailing the same file to myself again or what?

Why should it be emailed again? Do you use e.g. Outlook with a plugin that automatically extracts attachments?
Like:
http://www.rsbr.de/Software/OASniffer/index.htm
or
https://www.mapilab.com/outlook/attachments_processor/
If that's the case, yeah, you should probably receive it again, otherwise saving it manually (to the same path as before) should be sufficient...

I use Agent and it has done all those tasks automatically and correctly - as it did today and for the last 25 years+

Just emailed it to the same location. (sos)
The file arrived and was saved with an increment of '1' one correctly added.
M$ Fileexplorer can see 22 files and XY can only see 20 which means ??
Yes I am looking at the same folder with XY - compared unique files etc.

Perhaps a reboot will make it go away - until next time?

Enable:
Configuration | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Show hidden files and folders
Configuration | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Show system files and folders
Disable:
Configuration | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Hide protected operating system files
And, both files show up?

What is "(SOS)"?
If you're now showing all hidden + system files there are a few things to check:
Visual filter
Global visual filter
Ghost filter
XY is hiding these files from you. On purpose I'd say...

There are buttons available:
Toggle Visual Filter
Toggle Global Visual Filter
Ghost Filter
Right clicking them shows most of their features

I keep the color filter on at all times - the rest have likely been removed from the bar.

- What happens when you start a fresh instance and open that folder with it? Both files are still hidden?
- The other 20 files in that folder: Are they .pdf's as well? At least a few of them?
- Are the missing files listed when you use:
text quicksearch(<path to that folder>);
