Just as I rediscovered this feature, it doesn't work anymore!

In what way? (It works here)

I set my user default, did some changes to do a report and wanted to restore the user default, but nothing happened. So I ended up doing it manually again.

Can you repeat the problem at will?

Yep.
It seems to put the columns in the right sequence again, but doesn't redisplay hidden columns, that were shown when setting the user default.
Just tested it with the ext column, and there's no way to redisplay it other than manually. Restarted XY, but still no success.

Ok, about the only thing I can contribute to this discussion is this:

I have the following as my user default:

Name Type Ext Size Modified Attr

I have changed around one and/or more columns and when I right click on the column bar and click Restore column widths and sequence from user default, it all returns the way I have it set.

About the only thing that does not reset is if I turn on the Line Numbers column. When I reset, this does not go away, so I have to manually turn it off.

What you want has never been there! It does only what it says: column widths and sequence. Not visibility, not sort order.

Ok, you're right. It does what it says.
But then Jacky was apparently mislead by this function as well, 'cos he came up with it in order for me to have an easy way to redisplay columns after I had to hide them for a report.
So, how about adding that functionality as well?
And, while we're at it, maybe even a way to store different presets and name them accordingly?

I just added it (after today's upload) ... but then I saw why I did not add it in the first place:

Column width: per tab
Column position: per tab
Column sort order: per tab
Column visibility: per mode!

So, when I now restore the column settings, I do width and position for the current tab, but visibility for all tabs in the current mode (Browse, Find). Not so good...

I wasn't mislead, I just forgot it didn't work as I wished it did :P ;)

Yeah, you got a problem here it seems :P

Well, it depends. I mean, I kinda disagree. ;)
Because right now, when I change sort order or move a column around, it affects only the current tab, but if I change a column visibility, it will affect all tabs in the current mode. Not so good... I mean really, how is that any different?

Ideally, I'd say just make the column visibility work on a per-tab basis, but at least don't let this stop you from changing the Save/Restore feature!

Yep, the latter for now. Inconsistent but practical -- not rare in real life

Column-visibility-per-tab needs carefulness. I did not do it per-mode for nothing, and I have to see if the original reasons still hold.
