I did a search and could not find this, maybe im missing something but the app does not do automatic update ?

Everytime i launch it, i dont get a message saying a new version is out, yet when i go visit the website there is almost always a new update.

Is this something inbuilt that im missing ?

No. But you can use the splendid SimpleUpdater script. Add it to a ctb or catalog etc, then just one click, and it will take care of downloading!

It does not update automatically but it can check if there is an update available.

Menu - Help - Online Support - Check for Updates

Set the checkmark there if you want XY to check on each startup.
