Hi,

I disabled several third-parties shell extensions (e.g. Glary Utilities, Acronis Backup) from context menu by using ShellExView.

When I use Windows Explorer, the shell extensions don't appear, as expected.

However, if I use XYplorer, the shell extensions are still appearing in XYplorer context menu.

I set XYplorer to show 64-bit context menu (configuration=>shell integration), then the shell extensions don't appear.

Instead ShellExView, if I disable shell extensions by using CCleaner, they disappear everywhere, be it Windows Explorer or XYplorer.

So, it seems not an XYplorer issue, as I was first thinking on, but the way the shell extension is disabled itself.

ShellExView seemed to be the best tool, but CCleaner showed to be more effective.

Considering other users experiences, what do you recommend as the best way to disable shell extensions from context menu?

No opinion on the best tool for this job but a note on ShellExView.

By default it shows the "native" extensions - those that are the same bitness as the OS.
Since XYplorer is a 32-bit program you need to ensure you're looking at those registered for 32-bit programs.

You can do this within ShellExView by enabling Options > Show 32-bit Shell Extensions.

My guess is that CCleaner appears "more effective" because it disables both instances of the extension, while ShellExView allows the user to control each set separately.


Also, make sure you restart XY after making adjustments in ShellExView to ensure it updates.
