Allright, this is something I've been noticing for a while now, and it always intrigued me, and today it started bugging me a bit so I finally took the time to look into it more, and here I go

Whenever I delete a folder, XY has a weird habbit to jump a couple of times, and I'm not sure how he decides to go...
What I would expect, I beleive it is the usual behavior, is to delete the folder and simply move to the next one on Tree.

But that's not what XY does, it seems he jumps to a previously visited folder, then quickly move to another one, not always previously visited, and stays there.

Just now, I went to a few subfolders of a folder "A", then I moved on to other folders on the same level of A, which I collapsed on Tree. I went to 2 or 3 folders, then on the last one I hit "Shift+Del" to delete the folder.
Expected behavior after deletion: be on the next folder on Tree. But instead XY did quickly jumped to one of the subfolders of "A" I had visited earlier, then moved to a folder I had never visited yet, same level as "A" but not before or after the folder I deleted, there was in fact more than 10 folders in between them!! (and like 8 in between this one XY ended up on and the one I had visited right before the folder I deleted)

I have honestly no idea how XY does its thing, but whenever I delete folders I've always thought it was weird to see XY jumping around. Can even be a bit annoying when it make the Tree scolls but you didn't want to, or like now when it will expand folders I had previously collapsed...

But, I'm not sure if I used to see that often, or actually all the time. As soon as I'll see it again I'll save my INI & send...

All I can say is, it did happen regulary, always when deleting the current folder while focus was on Tree (obviously)

ok, it's doing it again!! Here, that was my most-recent history (from LM): As you can see I was in V:\New Folder, I focused the Tree and hit Shift+Delete, said "Yes" to the confirmation, and my history became this: FYI V:\xy_toolbar_buttons\ was on my History, I had never been to V:\RECYCLER\ but it was the folder right under V:\New Folder, so it's where I should have been indeed.

At the moment, whenever I create a folder in U:\, V:\ or D:\Program Files then go in it, focus Tree & remove that folder this "crazy jump" occur. If won't, though, when I do it on R:\ or X:\Tracker. I haven't tested all my folders obviously, just saying it's not always.

I'm not sure what the reason is. I thought it was linked to the paths on my history, so I tried by creating/removing a folder in D:\Program Files; it crazy jumped by D:\Program Files\Trillian\users\default\logs\MSN\ before going where it should. That long path was not in my history anymore, although I do remember going there a while ago (current session)

Then I removed all entries from my history on the drive D: And again, went to D:\Program Files & created/removed the folder, it crazy jumped by that same location: D:\Program Files\Trillian\users\default\logs\MSN\
Few more tests, always the same happens. I even removed ALL entries from my history, so it only listed D:\Program Files (current folder), the same.
It always crazy-jump by the same location previously mentionned, expanding it if it was collaped, then move back to where it should. The name of the new folder, or its position (eg. calling it AAA or ZZZ), doesn't matter.

Creating/removing the folder inside a subfolder of PF doesn't seem to trigger this crazy jump, unless it's somewhere under the branch mentioned. I do mean along that path, eg. under Trillian it crazy-jumps, under Trillian\users too, but not under Trillian\plugins

How do you confirm delete? Mouse, Enter, or accelarator?

Idea: you made some crazy keyboard shortcut...? Reset your ks.dat for a try.

I always use Shift+Delete to initiate it, and then press Enter to confirm. No mouse or accelerator no.

And no, I didn't make any crazy KS, I checked. And as I told you, XY doesn't do this crazy-jump all the time, on some locations it will, on others it won't, I don't know how they're picked but...
It seems though that it does it on locations I use a lot, cause it does in on drives/folders I use a lot, but when I try on other drives or folders I haven't go to in a while, it works fine.

And, I'm pretty sure if i restart XY it won't do it no more. For a while at least, then it'll be back. But I have no idea why/what brings this crazy-jump back

Too strange! I never had it and nobody else reported this. You should debug your drinks.

EDIT: I could repro it!! Which means: I'm following its blood trail through the code thickets ...

Arrgh, the beast showed up only once and never returned! I'm on the watch... I *think* is has to do with using the history before doing the deletion, means: you are somewhere in the middle of history. Also: I could reproduce it that one time after I unchecked "History without duplicates".

Just bumping this one as it still comes back over here....

Right now it's happening again, when removing folders under V:\
Just emptied my History using LM, created a "New Folder", went there, deleted it, and my history reads as follow:

V:\RECYCLER\
V:\TV Shows\
V:\New Folder\
V:\

So it did jump to V:\TV Shows without being asked to. I usually have "History without duplicates" unchecked, I did try checking it though, and no change.

It doesn't seem to be linked to the INI : I saved it, started another XY instance, did the operation again, it all went fine with no crazy jump.
So it was same version, same INI, but only one instance had the bug present.

It never happened to me again.

Well, I must be doomed Although I think it never happens on a fresh start, or soon after, but always after some time of use.
Or it's just a coincidence that I do whatever triggers this after a while...

Anyways, keep releasing new betas every day so that i have to restart XY and we'll be fine

Well, Jacky you are not alone.

This happens to me as well, but so rarely that it is hard to remember to watch for it when it happens.

Most times a deleted folder in the tree moves the highlite to the next folder in the tree, but every so often, it jumps lilke crazy 2 or 3 folders above the deleted folder. (usually to a subfolder of a rootfolder.)

I know this doesn't help in any way, but...
