The 'shell extension' or the command xyplorer.exe "%1" doesn't work correctly when used on "My network places". It will open a tab to "My computer" instead. "My network places" is in the tree however, so I think that it should be possible to fix this....

"My computer" is the default destination when something does not work. Starting XY via shell ctx menu does only work on real folders, not on name space extensions like nethood.

I think we have a problem here...

By default, I have set the "Open with XYplorer" as the default shell action. So, if I double click any folder, it will open with XYplorer.
However, XYplorer can not show the folder contents...

Also, if I choose "Tools>Control panel" or "Tools>Recycle bin", this doesn't work. It just opens a new "My computer" tab.

Is it possible that XYplorer uses the "default" shell command to open the Control panel? Maybe you should consider using the "open" command...

I tell you what happens. When XY is called via shell context menu of a normal folder, then that folder is passed as command line parameter to XYplorer so I can easily handle it. But if the context menu is from "nethood" or "control panel" or some other of those virtual folders, then I get no command line parameter at all! So what can I do? Maybe some wise man reads this...

May I ask how you did to have XY your default action? Because I think this may be happening because you used like "Folder" where "Directory" should have been more "appropriate" (ie. will only be applied for directory, "real" folders, not special/system ons (recyble bin, etc)).

I do have "Open in XYplorer" as my default action too, yet still the Control Panel & co works fine (ie. opens with explorer).

It seems to work fine now, except for the Tools>Open recycle bin command. It gives the following error :

The path '::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}' does not exist or is not a directory. A search for the above string in regedit DOES result in the Recycle bin class.

That's an error message from Explorer?

It seems to be a message from Windows Explorer (the title bar says so). But I have no problem at all when I just double-click on the recycle bin icon on the desktop.

Also, when I select Tools>Recycle bin stats, XY eplorer hangs completely. Only killing the process helps.

Hm. No idea. Is your bin extremely big? (maybe it's still counting...)

That was indeed the case. Emptying the recycle bin (took 267 minutes in total ;-)) did the trick!

Holy moses! I guess it was your first time?

It was on a Freshly installed and updated Windows 2000 workstation at work. Guess that I need to send a mail to our IT service to tell them that they should at least temporarily disable the recycle bin when installing new PC's.... The recycle bin was full with temporary files from updates and installations...

If there was THAT much in the Recycle Bin, was there any space left on disk for non-deleted files?
Presuming that your RB was taking a good part of your HD...
