XYplorer Beta Club

Hi there, I am new to this Forum and to the File Manger XYplorer......I have been looking for a good replacement for Windows Explorer and various different ones like Exploer** and File Commander and ones that I can't remember there names when I came across XYPlorer. It appears to be very good but I have a problem and before I go the whole and Purchase it I was wondering can anybody out there help? I am into Music and have lots of Music Folders with MP3 files and Flac Files in them. The problem I have is when I switch back from one folder to another the layout changes and I was wondering can you help with this. I have taken various Screenshots to show this problem.

The first Screen shot is of a MUSIC FOLDER with a lot music subfolders (albums, CD's) in it and this the way I want to see folder looking with the correct number of columns and layout
Then I switch to one of the Music Sub-Folders (Album, CD) and this again is the correct layout and columns I want to see in this Sub-Folder
Now I switch back the original MUSIC FOLDER and here is were the layout changes to something don't want to see with the wrong layout and the wrong columns
The only way I can get this back to the layout I want is to right click and load the column layout I have already saved called MUSIC. Surely there is an easier way to do this? Where I can switch from folder to a sub-folder without changing the layout everytime......Can Anyone Help? What I want is for the Sub-Folders (Albums CDs) to all the same with the same layout with all the track names and track nos and the MUSIC FOLDER to look slightly different with a list of the sub-folders (Albums CDs) with the date they where created and modified etc.....I don't want the track names and track nos etc listed

Welcome to the club.

Set your default view (size of columns, what they display, etc.).

Menu - View - Folder View Settings - Define this folder view as default

Go into your Music folder. Set it up as you need.

Menu - View - Folder View Settings - Save Folder View

That should help...

I did what you said and went into the Music Folder (which has all the CDs/Albums listed) and did Menu - View - Folder View Settings - Define this folder view as default and that was the way I wanted the Folder laid out with only the CDs listed and the Date they where created and the date they where Modified on......so only 3 or 4 columns.
And then opened a CD folder and it had changed to the 3/4 columns as in the Music Folder with the Date Created and Date Modified..........No Worries I can change that back to the way I wanted with the listing of the track names, the track numbers, the artist name, etc. I did that and had it sitting the way I wanted and I then did what you told me which is:-
Menu - View - Folder View Settings - Save Folder View.....which was fine and I moved back to the main Music Folder it was the same way that I had left it with about 3 or 4 columns and the listing of the CDs and I thought this great....its exactly the I wanted it. I checked back with the same CD and it also had the tracks listed they way I wanted.

But and it is a big BUT when I went to open another CD the layout was the same as the main Music Folder with 3/4 columns and Date Created and Modified. Do I have to each individual CD folder and change all the CD folders to look the same as the first one.....or is there an easier way to do it. I can do it but it seems quite laborious and surely there is an easier way.

If you want a certain folder view for G:\Music and another one for all folders below G:\Music, you should define a Folder View Setting for each of these, one for "G:\Music\", and one for "G:\Music\*" (note the asterisk!).

I think I have it sorted. I opened one of the CDs and and changed the layout the way I wanted with the track Nos and the list of the tracks etc and made that the default view and then back out to the Music Folder and changed it to just show it with the 3/4 columns with Name of CD and Date Created and Date Modified and saved that by doing what you said Menu - View - Folder View Settings - Save Folder View and when I went into the CDs it had the correct view layout with the tracks listed........so it appears to work. So thanks again for the help....together we got there.
