Norton AV Flagged & Removed xycopy.exe

I've been running Norton AV for years and XYplorer for even longer. I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 10 - I had Windows 7 on my old laptop. Things were fine under Windows 10. There were little or no problems with XYplorer. One little issue is that sometimes XYplorer won't come to the forefront when clicking its icon in the task bar. That's minor though.

Today, I upgraded XYplorer from 16.40.000 to 16.50.0000. Everything was fine until I tried copying a large group of files (12GB) from my old laptop. Things went smoothly until the copy process got to 35%. Then, the copying seemed to freeze. This lasted for a minute or so, with no activity. Then, Norton AV (full version 22.6.0.142) popped up an alert saying that its Sonar module had removed a security risk - xycopy.exe. Prior to the update, I had no issues with version 16.40.0000 of XYplorer and no alerts from Norton AV.

Rather than use XYplorer without the copy module, I downgraded to the previous version. I tried the large copy again and had no issue. I assume this is a false positive and I can configure Norton to ignore xycopy.exe in the latest version of XYPlorer, but wanted to pass on the info, just in case there is an issue that needs to be fixed and also to see if anyone else has experienced this or a similar problem.

Thanks for the report. This happens a lot for a while now, and I wonder wether it's related to the new digital signature (SHA-256 certificate). But whatever, it's the job of the AV industry to update their algorithms in a responsible way. (LOL, everybody knows that they live on positives, be they true or false...)
