Alt+F4 not working without startup.ini

Fully portable (No Install) version - no startup.ini, File/Exit (Saving) or Alt+F4, does NOT save settings. All folders are in XYplorer\Data.
But File/Save Settings does save settings. How can I use Alt+F4 to save settings again?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Krakatoa, go into the menu Tools | Configuration...| Startup & Exit (under General) and make sure the setting "Save settings on exit" is checked. Hopefully that should do it.

Thank you klownboy. Yes this setting was already checked.

Check if XYplorer.ini is writable for you (with your rights).

Yes, I have full rights. I am the admin and only user of this PC with full admin control.

Please try to open XYplorer.ini in an editor (you can use Tools | Open Configuration File...) and save it from there. Does it work?

Yes. I can open it as you suggested and save it from within my default editor (Notepad++), no problem.

So your XYplorer.ini is not written on app exit?
And there is no error message?
And "Configuration | Startup & Exit | Save settings on exit" is ticked?
And Alt+F4 is mapped to File | Exit?

From the very first post:

Is this still correct?
Sounds a bit strange. What, if then you change something, and exit with save - does it save then?

Yes, still correct
PeterH wrote:What, if then you change something, and exit with save - does it save then?
No. Changes only saved via
File/Save Settings.

You asked 4 questions.
Q1: XYplorer.ini is not written on app exit: Correct.
Q2: no error message
Q3: Configuration | Startup & Exit | Save settings on exit" is ticked: Yes.
Q4: Alt+F4 is mapped to File | Exit: Yes.
I do not have a Startup.ini; all folders are in Xyplorer\Data.
But when I added the the file: Xyplorer\Data\Startup.ini
Is this correct?
File\Exit(Saving) works, but Alt+F4 does not. But sometimes it does if I wait a small period of time, so perhaps there is a timing or cache issue? No Network browsing on startup
is ticked.

Maybe some other process hooked Alt+F4?

Maybe, but Alt+F4 always closes Xyplorer.
Is my Startup.ini coded correctly? And it should also work on a USB drive-Correct?

That's the only thing that would make sense
