Hi

when i tag a file at path: C:\temp\clickonce.log
with the tag : 'test'

this is what i see in the tag.dat file :
?:\temp\clickonce.log|0|test||||||

also no tags show up in the toolbar button "find by tags". What setting do i need to change to get tag.dat to list the correct drive qualifier for example C: or D:

The "?" is replaced by the drive letter the current XYplorer session was started from, which makes tags portable as long as you keep the files and XY on the same drives when moving them around.
I don't use tags myself but seem to recall there was some discussion about portable tags a while ago.
Maybe searching the help file or the forum for "portable tags" will give you more answers.

To disable portable tags, uncheck
Configuration | Tags | Enable portable tags

yup it was the "portable tags". Unchecked it and I am back in business.
Thanks Ralph and Highend for your help.
