Is manual sorting of files is remembered between sessions??

Yes, if you convert the folder into a so-called Paper Folder. See:

Why does it shows like this(the highlighted area) Can't we get this done without showing the highlighted area.

Right-click the "Paper Folders" toolbar button and untick "Always Show Path Column".
