Is there a way to hide certain files?

Example... all files that are named view.xml would always be hidden and never seen.

If so.. How do I do this?

(Global) Visual Filter(s)...

E.g. there are a few toolbar buttons to configure them and there is a lot of documentation in the help file

For your case a pattern like: !view.xml would work
